About Us

Palestinian Center For Children's Literature

Palestinian Center for Children’s Literature PCCL was founded in 2005 by a group of Palestinian authors, scholars, professors and critics to develop the content and quality of children literature with an effort to develop gender equality and human rights in child’s stories, poems theater, illustrations and coloring books, as well as, strengthening the collaboration among writers, illustrators, booksellers, publishers and editors to promote responsive children literature and support their education . The Center offers professional development in the form of projects, conferences, workshops, book discussion and social-emotional/aesthetic development at all levels of childhood education.
PCCL seeks to address a growing challenge: the diminishing use of children’s literature in literacy programs, particularly in the early grades. As a result, many children are finding it much more difficult to “engage” in their own learning.
Our mission is to create, identify, and advocate for the highest quality literature for all children from infancy through adolescence. We ensure that such literature is readily accessible to every child, and to foster in parents, educators, and policy makers a commitment to the principle that good literature is fundamental to literacy.
Projects
JANA WOMAN MAGAZINE Project
“JANA “Woman magazine, the first specialized digital woman magazine in Palestine, launched in 2018 by the Palestinian Center for Children Literature PCCL. The magazine grants the up- to- the minute women the best platform to express themselves as well as provide them with an opportunity of valuable networking and constructive self- development. “Jana” will be a memoir portraying, inspiring, flourishing Palestinian, and Arab women entrepreneurs who are changing the face of business and are giving a benefit to their social life, as well as daring to pressure their educational dreams and reach new career horizons. Besides, it offers managerial articles, inspirational experiences, leadership drills, as well as a palette of culture, literature and art. We believe that women are the engine for change in their communities and “Jana’ woman magazine provides an independent, transparent and responsible platform for women where they can freely share experiences, ideas, fulfill their dreams and express their views in a democratic environment.
Our mission:
  • To increase the participation and access of women to expression and decision-making in and through this media platform.
  • To promote a balanced and non-stereotyped portrayal of women in the media.
  • To facilitate a global communications network that transcends national boundaries and has an impact on public Policy, private attitudes and behavior, especially of girls and women.
Women’s magazines frequently reflect the changing view of women’s role in society and we hope that ““Jana” will reflect the impressive role of Palestinian women in their modern Palestinian society.
